The 911±¬ÁÏ library program fosters curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and a love of reading. Our library services provide a wide range of print and digital books, online resources, and curricular programming to address every student’s academic and independent reading needs and nurture a mindset of lifelong learning. We work with classroom teachers, staff and families to deepen reading enjoyment, build information literacy and digital citizenship, and improve achievement and engagement for each and every student. Thanks to the support of the 911±¬ÁÏ community and the 911±¬ÁÏ Schools Excellence Project (BSEP), there is ongoing funding for library staffing and resources in every 911±¬ÁÏ public school.

Preschool
At each of 911±¬ÁÏ’s Early Childhood Education preschools, students enjoy early literacy experiences through weekly classroom visits. After an interactive story-time, students select a library book to bring home to read with family for the week. Each student has an individual book bag to transport books home.

Elementary
All students in grades TK-5 visit their school library regularly with their class as part of their weekly schedule. In addition to read-alouds, library class sessions include instruction in information literacy. Students are encouraged to read widely and select books that they choose freely from the library collection.
Middle School
In collaboration with their English classes, students visit the library regularly to select books and develop information literacy skills. Through research in the library, students learn to access, evaluate, use, and integrate information and ideas found in print, media, and digital resources, enabling them to function in a knowledge-based economy and technologically oriented society as outlined in the Model School Library Standards.
High School
Students continue to develop and expand their reading skills and experiences with literature and information. Library instruction is incorporated through research projects in multiple subject areas. Information literacy instruction focuses on access to information and evaluation of resources through lateral reading.
